The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 14 has confirmed that the former One Direction star had a blood alcohol concentration of up to 2.7 grams per litre at the time of his death. After a lengthy wait for answers, new findings have emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding Liam Payne’s tragic passing.

Liam Payne Had 2.7 gm Alcohol In Blood When He Died

On Friday, February 21, the prosecutor’s office issued a press release detailing that Payne had alcohol concentrations of up to 2.7 grams per litre in his blood at the time of death. Payne, who died in October after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Argentina, also had several substances in his system, including “cocaine metabolites, methylecgonine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene, and the medication sertraline,” according to the translated report.

As noted by Alcohol.com, a blood alcohol concentration of 2.7 grams per litre translates to 0.27%, which can result in severe confusion, dizziness, and disorientation. The press release further indicated that Braian Paiz would be prosecuted for supplying drugs for money. This counters his previous claims that he’d provided them for free. The judge’s statement highlighted that “the evidence gathered reveals the onerous nature of the deliveries and confirms the prosecution ordered by the previous instance,” as reported by People.

Security Footage Finds Braian Paiz Guilty

Security footage was pivotal in corroborating these claims. Upon arriving at the hotel in the early hours of October 14, Payne was seen approaching the reception desk to request money. A police report from Paiz’s residence noted that “all the residents/families in the area primarily rely on the sale of narcotic substances.”

Messages exchanged between Payne and Paiz further illuminated the situation, with Paiz, who initially claimed the drugs were a gift, sending a text that read, “The guy with the cigar just answered me, come later if you want.” Payne replied, “I have 100 US dollars,” as reported by People.

In November, the prosecutor’s office had already released toxicology findings, indicating that in the 72 hours before his death, Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants in his system. “This conclusion was reached after comprehensive toxicology tests on urine, blood, and vitreous humor,” the report stated.
